After a dry and warm summer, fall is making a splashy start right off the bat. Environment Canada has declared a heavy rainfall warning for Metro Vancouver beginning this afternoon.
The strong Pacific front is expected to hit the region this afternoon, bringing rainfall amounts of up to 50 mm. Strong southeasterly winds of between 40 to 60 km/h are also expected this evening, diminishing to 30 km/h overnight.
The heaviest rain will ease by Wednesday morning when the front moves out of the region. Temperatures will reach a high of 17°C.
However, another front will move in immediately after, dumping an additional 20 mm of rain throughout Wednesday.
The potential holds for flash floods and water pooling on roads where drainage grates are unable intake the heavy volumes of water.
