Heavy rainfall this morning in Metro Vancouver, thunderstorms a possibility

Dec 20 2017, 12:29 am

An unstable weather system is bringing periods of torrential rainfall to Metro Vancouver this morning and early this afternoon.

According to Environment Canada, downpours of 10 to 15 mm per hour throughout much of the day can be expected. Thunderstorms producing pea-sized hail are also a possibility.

These conditions are caused by a strong, cool upper level trough that descended on the South Coast region earlier this morning.

The skies should clear up by mid-afternoon Sunday and a high of 20°C will be reached.

Please note that Metro Vancouver’s Stage 3 water regulations are still in effect despite the recent bout of rainfall.
