Heat wave forecasted this weekend for Metro Vancouver

Residents of Metro Vancouver will get a dose of heat this coming weekend as temperatures climb to 30ºC inland in some areas.

Environment Canada is forecasting rain for Wednesday and Thursday, June 4 in Vancouver, but sunshine beginning Thursday afternoon and lasting throughout the weekend. Temperatures will steadily rise, hitting a high of 26°C on Monday, June 8 with inland temperatures reaching 30°C.

Lows in the next seven days will be as high as 17°C and as low as 12°C.

Inland regions such as Abbotsford, Squamish and Whistler will hit highs of 30°C and Kelowna will enjoy 35°C weather this weekend.

The month of May was a record dry month for Metro Vancouver with only 4.2mm of rain falling in 31 days, significantly lower than the average 65mm. Water restrictions are now in effect across the region and forecasts call for the warm, dry weather to continue throughout the summer and fall.
