Haunted Vancouver: The Lady in Red at The Hotel Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 12:40 pm

The Fairmont Hotel Vancouver is not only one of the nicest buildings in town, it’s also home to what many believe is the nicest ghost in town, the famous Lady in Red. She is widely known to staff  and there is even a cocktail named after her.

Her name was Jennie Pearl Cox. She was a regular visitor of the hotel’s ballroom in the 1930s and early 1940s. Apparently she took up residence at the hotel after a fatal car crash in 1944.

She’s been seen passing through elevator doors on the first and fourteenth floors. Why only those I don’t know, but if you’re afraid of ghosts the next time you book a room there, book 15th and above. She has also been seen in rooms as well as the hotel bellman have claimed to witness the Lady in Red enter rooms just as they are checking in hotel guests.

Whether or not these ghost stories are true or not is up to debate. Nonetheless they are interesting.
