Hastings Sports Day: A fun, all-ages event coming on July 18

To celebrate the opening of the new Empire Fields and Plateau Sports Park at Hastings Park, the Vancouver Park Board is hosting an all-ages sports day on Saturday, July 18.

Hastings Sports Day will feature a host of free outdoor activities, including:

  • Adult & Youth drop-in beach volleyball
  • Night Hoops Youth Basketball tournament
  • FIFA Grassroots Soccer Festival for 9 to 12 years (pre-registration required)
  • Parkour Demos
  • BMX race
  • Skateboarding Contest
  • BC Soccer Cross Border Tournaments

Bring your friends and family to enjoy a fun and active day at the park. In addition to sports, there will be face painting, crafts, CircusWest performers, a photo booth and on-site activities from the PNE, Vancouver Aquarium, Vancouver Public Library and many more. Come and meet the Vancouver Whitecaps mascot, Spike. The Z95 street team will be playing hits and giving away prizes all day.

And then once you have worked up an appetite, enjoy tasty treats from on-site food trucks such as Japadog, BerryMobile, Potato Tornado, Lemon Heaven, Wakwak Burgery and Mr. Cool Ice Cream. Free mini cupcakes will also be given out for the first 250 people to arrive.

Don’t forget to stay hydrated and take transit, walk or bike to Hastings Sports Day, since parking will be limited.
