A stunning Harvest Moon is set to rise over Canada this weekend

Get your cameras ready, there’s going to be a spectacular lunar event visible this week.

On Friday, September 13, skies will be lit up with a bright and beautiful harvest moon.

According to NASA, the “moon will appear full for about three days,” starting from Thursday night and carrying until Sunday morning. The moon is expected to be its fullest at 9:33 PM PST on Friday, September 13/12:33 am EST on Saturday, September 14.

The Harvest Moon got its name because it’s the time when farmers would gather their staple crops, such as corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice.

If you really want a good view, try to find a spot away from city lights — the darker the spot is, the better.
