Harlem Shake: Vancouver

Dec 19 2017, 3:02 pm

The Harlem Shake is an Internet phenomenon based on viral videos that began to gain popularity in the last week. The videos are based on the dance of the same name, featuring the song Harlem Shake by electronic musician Baauer.

Normally, each video begins with one person dancing to the song alone, surrounded by other people. When the bass drops, the camera transitions to the entire crowd doing the dance, often appearing in crazy costumes or ridiculous positions.

I found myself doing the Harlem Shake throughout Vancouver the other day and most people just looked at me like I was crazy… and not the normal “that guy’s crazy” look I usually get. It was more of a “WTF are you doing, I haven’t seen nor heard of this so called Harlem Shake” kinda look.

So to make sure I don’t look too crazy the next time I bust out my mad dance skills, I present you with the Harlem Shake Vancouver editions:

We want to see your best Harlem Shake. Tweet the following tagline (@Vancitybuzz @TheFelixKay #HarlemShakeVancity) along with your video and show us what you got.
