8 Happy Hours to check out this fall in Vancouver
Your workday is done, you don’t want to go home, so come on, get happy…at Happy Hour. More and more Vancouver bars and restaurants are adding late afternoon food and drink specials to their daily offerings, or freshening up their existing Happy Hour menus to go with the season. There are a few fun twists, too, like a Happy Hour with live DJs, late night Happy Hours, or Happy Hours for football fans.
Here are eight Happy Hours to check out right now in Vancouver.
YEW seafood + bar: New “Reverse” Happy Hour

Award-winning Bartending Lauren Mote has joined up with YEW’s newest addition, Chef Weimar Gomez, to create an inviting Reverse Happy Hour–which means it’s happening in the after-dinner hours. Five new cocktails and five new dishes have been custom created, and are $10 each. Try a twist on a Piña Colada with some Tuna Poke, or a smoky Careyeros with YEW’s Poutine.

Gotham Steakhouse: Social Hour
Turn up the post-work cocktail hour a notch with Gotham’s newly-launched Social Hour.
The Social Hour Menu features iconic Gotham favourites like Prime beef sliders, fresh shucked oysters, and Portobello mushroom fries. Look for special pricing on craft cocktails, select wine, local beers, and 40% off all champagne. But the real cool factor is that they’ve now got live DJs spinning old school vinyl tracks, including deep soul and classic jazz. Social Hour runs Monday to Friday from 3 to 6 pm, and the DJ spins from 3 to 6:30 pm.

Donnelly pubs: Extended Happy Hours for NFL season

Calling at NFL fans: There’s nothing like watching the game and cheering on your favourite teams at the pub with friends. That’s why Vancouver’s Donnelly Group is offering a special set of NFL Happy Hours at select pub locations. On Sundays, Football Happy Hour runs from 10 am to 4 pm with discount drink features at every pub, alongside their regular brunch menus. On Mondays, they’ve got a MNF Happy Hour from 3 to 8 pm, complete with food and drink deals, too.

JOEY Bentall: Super Happy Hour
Check out the newly-revamped ONE at JOEY Bentall for their Super Happy Hour, which runs 3 to 6 pm daily, and from 9 pm to close on Thursday through Sunday nights. Appetizer bites are $3.50 each, and drink specials include $4 beer and cocktails, and $5 wine pours.

Jules Bistro: New Happy Hour Menu
Say bonjour to the new Happy Hour menu at Gastown’s cozy Jules Bistro. The menu offers $8 food specials, (like garlic butter frog legs, garlic-chili prawns with lime and green onions, crab salad roll and many more) and $5 French wine per glass, or $25 per bottle. Jules’ Happy Hour is available every day from 2:30 to 5:30pm.

UVA: New(ish) Happy Hour (Plus Winter Drinks!)
Late this summer, UVA’s award-winning bar manager, Sabrine Dhaliwal, kicked off a brand new Happy Hour. Running from 2 to 6 pm daily, imbibers can enjoy their choice of four premium cocktails, starting at $8 each. UVA’s Happy Hour also includes selection of incredible eats created by Chef de Cuisine Dan Martin, including steamed mussels (with garlic, chilli, white wine, bacon and grilled bread), arancini and bruschetta. If you happen to be still in the drinking mood after 6 pm, UVA and Dhaliwal have added some new cold-weather cocktails to warm you up.

La Pentola: Late night Happy Hour
Yaletown’s La Pentola has gotten a recent refresh, so their late night Happy Hour is another great opportunity to see what’s cooking. From 9 pm until late, La Pentola’s Happy Hour features include $6 Negronis, $5 red or white wine and $4 local craft beers, alongside $5 bites such as baccala (salted cod) on toast and meatballs in tomato sauce.

La Mezcaleria: New Happy Hour at both locations
There’s a new location of La Mezcaleria to enjoy, but both the Commercial Drive and Gastown locations of the popular Mexican mezcal-focused eatery are rocking a new Happy Hour. Running every Tuesday to Sunday, from 3 to 6 pm. Drinks-wise, House Wine, Draft Beer, and refreshing Palomas, made with El Jimador Reposado, grapefruit soda and lime, are all offered at $5. Look for deals on Ceviche ($6) and their signature Quesito Fundido ($8).
