Half Moon Run announce concert at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre

Sep 25 2019, 2:53 pm

Indie-rock band Half Moon Run is coming to Vancouver on the Canadian leg of their A Blemish in the Great Light world tour.

The tour is taking the Montreal-based rockers coast-to-coast across Canada, the United States, and to Europe with stops in Prague, Barcelona, and Paris.

The four multi-talented members, Conner Molander, Dylan Phillips, Devon Portielje, and Isaac Symonds haven’t slowed down since their first album Dark Eyes was released in 2012. After the record went platinum in Canada, Half Moon Run followed up their success with 2015’s Sun Leads Me On.

They received a JUNO nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year in 2016 after returning from a previous whirlwind tour of Europe and North America.

Half Moon Run’s complex brand of alt-folk, alt-rock, psychedelic indie, has built the band a cult following. The band members’ ability to play a multitude of instruments gives them an ear for arrangements few other groups possess. Between them, they can incorporate percussion, piano, keyboard, guitar, synth, bass, mandolin, harmonica, and more.

They were called “a band to watch,” by Rolling Stone and have opened for Mumford and Sons, City and Colour, and Of Monsters and Men. They’ve also drawn huge crowds on the festival circuit; Half Moon Run have played everything from this year’s Calgary Folk Fest, to 14 European festivals in 14 weeks.

Fans are waiting not-so-patiently for the November 1 release of their third album, A Blemish in the Great Light. Their highly-lauded live show is expected to sell out across the country — and potentially, the world. Singer-songwriter Taylor Janzen will be opening the Vancouver show.

Tickets to Half Moon Run’s all-ages Vancouver show are on sale now via Ticketmaster, starting at $29.50.
