An employee of Hudson’s Bay in Guildford Town Centre Mall was stabbed on Tuesday night after trying to catch an alleged shoplifter, according to the Surrey RCMP.
At around 6 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of the mall at 10355 152nd Street. A 29-year-old man was found with stab wounds to his arms and upper body and he was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Initial investigations suggest the victim was trying to stop the alleged shoplifter and a fight broke out, during which time he was stabbed multiple times. Still, he was able to control the suspect until security guards arrived to help.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charges are pending.
