Your essential guide to the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival 2016

Whether you’re a huge jazz fan or just getting started, there’s something for everybody at the 31st annual TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival. This year’s edition features more than 1,800 artists performing over the course of 10 days, and we’ve got you covered with a guide to help with your festival planning.

Downtown Jazz Weekend

The TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival will play host to 30 bands during Downtown Jazz Weekend. These shows are free to the general public and will include a salute to the late Dal Richards, affectionately known as “Vancouver’s King of Swing”

When: June 25 and 26, 2016 from noon to 9 pm

David Lam Park Weekend

When: July 2 & 3, 2016 from noon to 9 pm

Street closures will be in effect during Downtown Jazz Weekend – festival attendees are encouraged to bike, walk, or use public transit to get to the events.

Festival goers can pick up a physical copy of this year’s guide at VPL Central Branch, Roundhouse Community Centre and all TD Bank branches.

Ticket information

For advance tickets, TicketFly has you covered for most of the events, or call 1.888.732.1682. Tickets go off-sale at 3 pm on the day of each show, but if the event is not sold out, tickets can still be purchased approximately one hour before showtime at the Will Call office at each venue.

Discounts and passes

Want to save a little money? Purchasing tickets in advance is often cheaper than getting them at the door. For example:

Under 30? For selected events, music lovers under the age of 30 will receive a 30% discount off the advance ticket price. There’s a maximum of two tickets per person, and notices will go out via the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival’s e-newsletter at least one week in advance. Sign up here at the bottom of the page.

65 or older? Jazz fans aged 65 or older will receive a 15% discount on tickets purchased before the day of the event, with a maximum of two tickets per person.

Groups of 15 or more Bring your friends, as groups of 15 or more will receive a 10% discount on tickets purchased before the day of the event. Your group can purchase tickets by calling 1.888.438.5200 ext 5.

Roundhouse Performance Centre Pass ($32, service fees and taxes included) – This pass allows access to all six events on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. Single set tickets for the Roundhouse Performance Centre events are available at the door only.

Innovation Series 3 Event Bundle ($46, service fees and taxes included) – Choose any three events from the Innovation Series – Ironworks & Ironworks Late Night. Bundles can be purchased by calling 1.888.438.5200 ext 5. Choose your events early as discounted tickets are limited.
