The most wonderful time of the year for skiers and snowboarders has finally arrived — opening day at local ski resorts. Two of the North Shore’s mountains have confirmed that they’ll be opening for the 2019-20 season this weekend.

Cypress Mountain

Cypress Mountain Resort has confirmed with Daily Hive that they will open on Friday, November 29 from 10 to 3 pm, and Saturday from 9 to 4 pm. Joffrey Koeman, Director of Sales and Marketing, says that two Quad Chairs will be operational.

The Easy Rider Quad Chair will open access to the Runway ski run; the Express High-Speed Quad will allow access to the Upper Fork and Lower Jasey Jay ski run.

Tickets at Cypress will be 50% off on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while the mountain continues to open more terrain.

Grouse Mountain

Grouse Mountain will officially open for the 2019/2020 season on Saturday, November 30.

According to a statement from Julia Grant, Communications Manager, the mountain will open at 9 am with limited terrain. Paradise Bowl and the Paradise Terrain Park will open with access via the Greenway Chair.

“Skiing and riding will be available from 9 am to 10 pm beginning this weekend, with discounted Lift Tickets until more terrain is opened,” reads Grouse Mountains statement.

“Our snowmaking team has done a fantastic job taking advantage of the recent old temperatures and with snowfall in the forecast for the next week we’ll be working to open up all additional terrain as soon as possible,” says Grant.
