Someone just swiped a cherished race car artifact from BC Sports Hall of Fame

The BC Sports Hall of Fame is asking for help from the public after a historic racing helmet was stolen.
A racing helmet belonging to legendary BC IndyCar driver Greg Moore was stolen from the BC Sports Hall of Fame museum, which is located in BC Place, on Wednesday.
Moore wore the helmet during his 1998 IndyCar victory at the Rio 400 in Brazil. The Maple Ridge native tragically passed away during the Marlboro 500 at the California Speedway in 1999.

The suspect was a man wearing a black hat, black pants, a blue shirt, a grey jacket, white shoes, and carrying a burgundy sports bag.
Staff were doing their rounds just minutes after the robbery when they noticed that the mannequin had a missing helmet. Vancouver Police were contacted within 10 minutes of the robbery, according to the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Staff ran out onto Beatty Street looking for the suspect, but he had already fled the scene.
“That helmet is a part of Greg that we’ll never get back,” Ric Moore (Greg’s father) said in a BC Sports Hall of Fame press release. “It’s not just racing gear, it’s a symbol of who he was, the joy he brought to people, and the dreams he chased. Please, if anyone knows where it is, help bring it home. Not just for us, but for everyone who loved Greg and what he stood for.”
