Great products to last through the summer heat

The heat is finally arriving in Vancouver and it is about time! But with the Vancouver summer comes the humidity which can sometimes be a problem for makeup lasting. There are several great products that are perfect for wearing in the sun and heat that will not fade away or feel heavy on the skin and still look fabulous.

Primer is an excellent product to use as it preps the skin for foundation and gives a nicer finish. Hourglass Veil Mineral primer has SPF 15, a soft, powder-like finish and feels as though there is nothing on the face. It also comes in two different sizes, a small and larger size, both available at Sephora.

MAC Pro Longwear foundation is great for the summer. It will stay for up to 15 hours and on top of the long lasting wear, it does wonders for oil control. It is easy to blend and gives a nice finish, while providing medium coverage. Pro Longwear also comes in eye shadows, blushes, lipstick, gloss, concealer, lip liner and eyeliner.

Waterproof mascara is awesome to have all year round, especially in the rain. For the summer, it is great for wearing to the pool or beach and will not budge if you sweat or cool off in the water. It is not as hard as people think to remove waterproof mascara either. Use a makeup remover that is not oil free and it will easily wipe away.

Urban Decay makes a great waterproof liquid eye liner that is bold and comes in 11 colours. Also found at Sephora, this long lasting liquid liner is easy to apply and can create a thin or thick line for the perfect cat-eye, just make sure you shake it up before using it. Feel free to jump in the pool with this liner on and not worry about coming out looking like Alice Cooper.

Going out on the town? Try putting a cream base on your eyes before you apply the eye shadow. This will make the colour of the shadow pop and hold the shadow in place so that you can dance all night long and not have to worry if your eye makeup is fading away. Cream shadows are great as well, but putting a regular eye shadow on top of it will also prevent creasing.

These products are amazing for summer as well as for the rest of the year. Make sure that when you are using any products during the day you have an SPF on to protect your skin from sun damage!
