TELUS x Daily Hive team up to spotlight good news stories from across Canada

The Friendly News is a collaboration between TELUS and Daily Hive. Together, we’re creating a space for important, feel-good community stories to be told, where Canadians can immerse themselves in uplifting news and articles featuring community leaders giving back during a time when we all need it most.

At Daily Hive our editorial team produces dozens of stories daily. While it’s normally a blend of news, entertainment, food, lifestyle and community stories, this year there’s been an awful lot more bad news.

And it’s no surprise. 2020 has been a very challenging year for Canadians.

Even if our friends, family or coworkers weren’t directly touched by COVID-19, nearly all of us, and many of our favourite small businesses, were impacted by the wide economic swath carved by the pandemic. Restaurants are struggling to stay afloat and thousands of jobs have been lost.

So with the holidays approaching, what we all need right now is a healthy dose of good cheer. To do just that, I’m honoured to announce a special partnership between Daily Hive and TELUS.

The Friendly News” is a newly minted space on Daily Hive, dedicated to shedding light on feel-good community stories from across our great nation. And, in the process, give freelance Canadian journalists an opportunity to do what they do best in a year that has been tough on our industry.

“We all deserve some good news,“ says Patrick Barron, Vice President, Corporate Citizenship at TELUS. “Through our partnership with Daily Hive, we want to create a space that highlights the remarkable Canadians who, despite all odds or circumstance, are making a positive impact in their communities.”

Our mission here at Daily Hive has always been to foster a genuine conversation among communities. So we are thrilled to be able to align our brand with TELUS’s, and, together, allow Canadians to immerse themselves in uplifting stories.

“At TELUS, we believe in giving back to the communities where we live, work and serve, and we know we aren’t the only ones,” says Barron. “The Friendly News will be a place to share good news stories we all crave, and celebrate the incredible volunteers, community leaders and change champions who truly give back.”

If you are a Canadian freelance journalist, we encourage you to submit your proposal here to write a story about what you’re seeing in your community. Accepted proposals will be paid by Daily Hive for their work, and will be featured nationally, and promoted across our social channels. Submissions are being accepted until March 2021.

Interested? Questions? Send an email to [email protected]. We look forward to talking with you.

On behalf of our partners at TELUS, and the entire Daily Hive Team, here’s to a more “Friendly” 2021!
