Gluten Free Expo Vancouver 2013

Dec 19 2017, 6:51 am

The Gluten Free Expo is Canada’s premier gluten free event. Whether you’re looking for great tasting products, or Gluten Free education, the Expo is the place to be.

If you’re feeling bloated, pudgy, depressed or lethargic after the holidays, get back on your bike. And then, make an appointment with your physician. You may be showing symptoms of a gluten intolerance, or Celiac disease.

Thanks to recent advances in medical testing, about one in six Canadians suffer from gluten intollerance. The protein is prevalent in anything made with wheat, such as bread, cookies, pasta, cakes, and crackers – plus other foods. In groceries and restaurant meals, it has been difficult to avoid, until now.

“’Gluten-free’ is not a trendy diet,” says Margaret Dron, the executive director of the Gluten Free Trade Organization. “It represents a serious dietary need. Fortunately, avoiding gluten has never been easier, thanks to the consumer demand which has risen from wider awareness, and so many Vancouver businesses rising to the challenge.”

Dron is also the founder of the Gluten Free Expo, which comes to the Vancouver Convention Centre on January 13, from 10 am to 5 pm. To help make gluten intolerances more tolerable, the event will showcase hundreds of products to sample or buy, along with some of the leading experts on Gluten Free Living in Canada.  Tickets are just $9 online ( or $12 at the door.

“Adopting a gluten-free diet isn’t as easy as a cycle around the seawall – yet,” says Dron. “But if your body has been reacting to gluten, avoiding it will make you feel like yourself again.”

In addition to featuring over 100 vendors both sampling and selling their products, there will also be a public stage with sessions pertaining to gluten free living throughout the day for your enjoyment.
