Glow Gardens pivots to COVID-friendly Christmas light drive-thru

One of Vancouver’s most popular Christmas activities has announced that it’s pivoting to a drive-thru holiday experience starting this month.

Glow Gardens says that it’s launching a brand new COVID-friendly experience in Metro Vancouver. A drive-thru, touchless light journey has been designed by “the Glow elves” to take guests through a stunning holiday spectacle.

The 15-minute experience will take place in Langley and will feature “dazzling landscapes” with close to a million lights. The initial event was scheduled to be an outdoor experience at the Greater Vancouver Zoo but has since been changed to create a safer, holiday-friendly experience.

Vehicles participating in the drive-thru will be greeted by elves with mini doughnuts, popcorn, and a souvenir Christmas ornament.

The venue will include a glittering glacial foyer, a 100-foot animated light tunnel, a three-story tree, holiday princesses, and none other than Kris Kringle himself. Not to mention, all guests will receive an additional parting gift to mark their festive experience.

“COVID-19 has presented unprecedented challenges for both personal and professional well-being,” says Glow on its website. “So we’re adapting to the times. We’ll look and operate a little differently this year, but safety is our first priority.”

“Many of us are restricted from travelling this holiday, so Glow is delighted to offer you some seasonal cheer closer to home.”

The drive-thru event will run from Thursday, November 26, 2020, to Saturday, January 2, 2021, between 5 and 10 pm. Entrance will cost $29.99 per vehicle, with a maximum of seven guests, and participants will be required to select an entry time when purchasing a ticket.

A number of additional safety measures will be in place to ensure that the event remains contactless and that staff are kept safe.

Those who purchased tickets to the original event at the Greater Vancouver Zoo will receive an automatic 100% refund.
