Century Group today announced the long-awaited hotel partner for 3 Civic Plaza, Surrey’s first mixed-use hotel and residential project, as the Autograph Collection, part of the Marriott International, Inc. global portfolio.

Officially named ‘Civic Hotel at 3 Civic Plaza, Autograph Collection’, the luxury hotel will boast 144 rooms, a lobby based café, fine dining, fitness and pool facilities, a large convention space, and catering services.

Combined with its premium residences and professional offices, 3 Civic Plaza and its Civic Hotel will be the largest private project to give form to the emerging Surrey City Centre. The hotel will add significantly to the Mayor’s vision of a sophisticated social hub and will provide much-needed business and social functionality.

“We welcome the Autograph Collection to Surrey City Centre!” says City of Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts. “Together with the City Centre Library, the new City Hall and 3 Civic Plaza, this hotel will be a defining fixture of our downtown.”

Civic Hotel at 3 Civic Plaza, Autograph Collection represents Surrey’s first new high-rise hotel in more than two decades. It will generate 50 full-time jobs and the overall project has resulted in the creation of more than 200 jobs during the construction process.

“We worked hard to find the right hotel partner for Civic Hotel and Autograph Collection is a natural fit,” says Sean Hodgins, president of Century Group. “It allows us to create a boutique and independent feel for the hotel while at the same time sharing in the benefits of Marriott International’s global sales and marketing channels, including the award-winning Marriott Rewards membership program. This will be Surrey’s premier hotel offering!”

Marriott International represents one of the world’s largest and most recognized hotel operators, and their Autograph Collection has nearly 50 properties worldwide, ranging from Prague to San Francisco.

“Autograph Collection is an expert curator of independent and extraordinary hotels,” says Manlio Marescotti, vice president of development for Marriott International, Inc. “We saw 3 Civic Plaza and Civic Hotel as an opportunity to grow our esteemed collection and are thrilled to be working with Century Group.”

It is anticipated that Civic Hotel will cater primarily to the corporate and leisure markets. With 37,000-40,000 guests per year expected, more than $3.6 million in ancillary revenue is estimated to be injected into local businesses and services each year based on the average international visitor to Canada spending $99.60 per day in 2011, according to the Canadian Tourism Commission.

Designed by local firm Cotter Architects and Portland-based ZGF Architects, the progressive architecture and modern design of Civic Hotel will reflect an international outlook and the city’s South Asian cultural influences. 3 Civic Plaza residences and offices will have access to hotel facilities, including a two-storey “glass box” grand lobby and the hotel roof, which will act as an amenity space for socializing and special events, offering a front row seat to activities taking place on the Civic Plaza below.

3 Civic Plaza will begin construction in January 2014 with project completion expected in fall 2016. Residential sales are underway.
