Fans can celebrate football festivities in Vancouver with Gastown United

The world’s largest sporting event is coming to Vancouver, and excitement is in the air. Whether you’re a die-hard football fan or simply looking to soak up the atmosphere, Gastown is the Vancouver location for getting in on the action.

Gastown United is a neighbourhood-wide campaign that’s taking football fanaticism into the streets, patios, and venues of the neighbourhood.

From June through early July, visitors and locals alike can explore the neighbourhood through business activations, watch parties, and other exclusive experiences.

Stamp your passport

First things first, you’ll want to pick up a Gastown United Passport at any participating location. Whenever you make a purchase from these participating businesses, you’ll get a stamp, and for every three stamps, you’ll get an entry to win one of four prizes valued at $250.

Participating locations include Timbertrain Coffee Roasters, Olde Tyme Candy Shoppe, Greta Bar YVR, Tees.ca, Smith’s Irish Pub, Coastal People’s Fine Art Gallery, Pourhouse Restaurant, Lee’s Donuts, and more.

Your favourite and soon-to-be favourite bars and restaurants are also hosting epic watch parties throughout the tournament. Les Bleus fans are invited to Petrichor French Farmhouse Restaurant for special match viewings with a special lunch menu consisting of Aligot Saucisse, Bourgeois Burger, and football-friendly French snacks.

Or, maybe you’re a Kiwi at heart, in which case you’ll want to hit up The Blarney Stone or The Portside Pub for New Zealand’s games. The Blarney Stone pre-parties for the Egypt and Belgium matches are already sold out, so you don’t want to miss out on future events or other pre-parties!

You’ll also have the chance to win the ultimate prize — the opportunity to view a match live and in person.

The Lamplighter Public House is offering scratch tickets on featured food and drink purchases with the chance to win swag and match tickets, with Michelob Ultra hosting a ticket giveaway for matches in Vancouver and Toronto.

Local Public Eatery is also hosting giveaways, with Smirnoff giving away two sets of tickets to two round robin games in Vancouver, and Michelob Ultra giving away a trip for two to Toronto to take in a game.

On July 3, the fun takes to the street with LowTide’s free street viewing party in Carrall St. Alley, complete with a giant screen, games, and expansive patio space. Regardless of who wins and loses, you’re sure to have fun.

Gastown United has also partnered with Force Beer Co. to launch an exclusive Gastown United lager, because this is a moment that deserves its own craft beer.
