FUSE returns to the Vancouver Art Gallery and you won't want to miss it

Vancouver’s favourite art party is back this month.

On Friday, November 23, attend FUSE at the Vancouver Art Gallery for an evening filled with art, music, and performance.

Since its inception in 2005, thousands of art enthusiasts have visited the Gallery to experience innovative and experimental live art, explore the exhibitions on view, and relax in the artist bars.

The upcoming edition of FUSE is guest-curated by Pablo de Ocampo with production support by Erika Lim and the entire staff of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

During the event, guests will consider the kinds of knowledge that objects hold, as well as how they transmit, transfer, and emanate their material wisdom to the world.

FUSE: Object Lessons derives inspiration from the couture gowns presented in Guo Pei: Couture Beyond, where Chinese cultural tradition combines with heritage and contemporary aesthetics.

The event is further provoked by Dana Claxton: Fringing the Cube. Claxton uses regalia, clothing, and other culturally specific objects in her videos, photos and performances to think through representations of Indigenous peoples and cultures.

A Curator’s View: Ian Thom Selects and The Metamorphosis are two exhibitions also on display that are both drawn from the Gallery’s permanent holdings, highlighting the narratives that exist between these objects in the collection.

Tickets to FUSE are on sale now via Vancouver Art Gallery. General admission costs $29 or $15 for members. If you’re a member, you must show your current membership card upon arrival. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door on the evening of the event.
