Fun for families in the Fraser Valley

Dec 19 2017, 9:52 pm

Looking for some fun events for the whole family? The Fraser Valley is the place to be.

Honeybee Centre

Who doesn’t like finding out where your honey comes from? It’s a fun place you can take your kids for about maximum 45 minutes of interest and fun. You can watch bees and everyone who visits gets a free honey stick to eat. Very friendly staff and loads of fun educational parts to the exhibits. Bonus is you can pick up some beeswax candles or honey when you visit. Really awkward to get to (176th and Fraser Highway) but well worth the visit.

Play Abby

This place is primarily aimed at younger kids, seven and under. They do have a small lazer tag option but mostly it’s the typical tubes and crawlies with some overpriced and out of date arcades. They do have comfortable chairs for parents and the Tim Horton’s is right across the street. It’s hit and miss whether they’ll let you bring in outside food.

Go Bananas

With locations in Langley, Surrey and Chilliwack this is the largest of the Play place franchises. Owned by the same folks who own Willow Video this is a cheap alternative to all the other play places. They have affordable arcades and super cheap entry. Sometimes even a deal where they give you a free hot dog. I think the only way they’re actually making money is on Birthday parties, which of course they have a few birthday rooms. Sometimes you’ll find pieces of the play place falling apart or held together with coloured duct tape, otherwise, a fun and safe place.

  • Fun for Kids 8/10
  • Good for Parents 7/10
  • Price for Entry 9.5/10
  • Price for Activities 9/10
  • Length of time spent 7/10

Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Great Escape

This place is amazing and really feels like it has everything. The cost is quite prohibitive for most families though with it’s over the top costs. It’s owned by the company who actually sells all the ‘hamster cage’ tubes and pieces for all the other activity centres, so you’d think they’d make their prices reasonable. The cool part is that it’s pretty diverse in options from arcade games to bowling to lazer tag to a fun shooting ballroom.
