It was only a matter of time before Disney announced a sequel to their record-breaking 2013 film.
According to Deadline, Disney CEO Bob Iger made the big announcement during a Disney shareholder meeting on Thursday, confirming that ‘Frozen’ would be back for a second go, along with co-directors Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck.
The film, release in 2013, grossed $1.2 billion worldwide at the box office and won an Oscar for Best Animated Feature in 2014.
Inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tale “The Snow Queen”, “Frozen” followed Princess Anna, Kristoff the iceman and Olaf the snowman as they attempted to find Anna’s estranged sister, Queen Elsa, who’s magical curse had turned their town of Arendelle to ice.
“Frozen” also won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for “Let it Go”.
