If you spend any time out and about in Surrey, you may soon be able to enjoy free WiFi service, thanks to a new city-wide program.
The City of Surrey is partnering with Shaw Communications Inc. to provide free WiFi at over 40 key locations, including at all recreation centres, several parks, civic buildings, and public spaces.
Via this multi-year agreement, Shaw will install, operate and maintain the networks in exchange for a little love from City of Surrey facilities and in marketing materials.
The WiFi networks will start to go in soon and be rolled out over the next few months. The first locations slated for the program are: Cloverdale Fairgrounds, Fraser Heights Recreation Centre, Guildford Library, Guildford Recreation Centre, North Surrey Recreation Centre, South Surrey Recreation Centre, and Surrey Arts Centre.
“Free, reliable and easily accessible City Wide Wi-Fi access is integral to the development of our city as it allows our residents to be socially engaged and well connected,” said Mayor Dianne Watts.
