TD High School Jazz Intensive
On Sunday, June 30, the students chosen to be a part of this year’s 10th anniversary edition of the TD High School Jazz Intensive will be making their big stage debut on the mainstage at David Lam Park.
After an extensive audition process that saw students from 200 schools across the Lower Mainland apply, 21 talented teens in grades 10 to 12 are currently taking part in this nine-day, music residency program led this year by guest conductor Tomeka Reid, an acclaimed Chicago-based jazz cellist and composer. Culminating in the mainstage performance, these aspiring professional musicians are gaining invaluable performance, networking and mentoring experience, in addition to scholarship opportunities. The positive impact of this one-of-a-kind musical program extends throughout the community by further cultivating an appreciation for the importance of music education while inspiring the next generation of jazz music professionals.
