For many Vancouverites, those who live in The Valley might as well be from another planet.

When someone in the city hears that you are “from the valley,” the reaction is generally a mix between astonishment and curiosity: you made it, you’re free, you’re so…normal.

The Valley has its benefits: fresh air, parking spots, knowing your neighbour. Of course, to those outside of the bubble, The Valley is a land far, far away, full of cows, dial-up internet, overalls and pitchforks.

Here are 10 things you’ve probably heard if you’ve lived in the Fraser Valley:

1. Oh, you live in Langley… isn’t that like 3 hours away from here (Vancouver)?
