The COVID-19 pandemic has reached another care home in the Lower Mainland.

Fraser Health has confirmed that a staff member of Langley Lodge has been diagnosed with coronavirus.

The individual is in self-isolation at home and a Fraser Health SWAT team is currently on-site. Health officials add that communication with residents and families is also underway.

“Enhanced control measures have been put in place at Langley Lodge,” reads a statement from Fraser Health. “Fraser Health is working with the staff to identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents, and families.”

In addition to notifying residents, families, and staff, health officials say that other measures are being taken such as twice-a-day screening for staff and residents, as well as restricting movement inside the facility.

Fraser Health will also be present on-site to “take any further actions required and support the facility.”

The Langley Lodge is a long-term care facility owned by the Langley Care Society and is equipped with 132 single rooms.
