France's Celebration of Light fireworks dazzle crowds in English Bay (PHOTOS, VIDEOS)
Last night, it was the team from France’s turn to impress the crowds of hundreds of thousands watching the Celebration of Light – and they did not fail to impress.
Shots of blue, white and red exploded into the air in the first moments of the show. While the United States decided to go big, F.C. Pyro – the French pyrotechnic team – used a greater variety of fireworks that were not seen before at the festival to achieve a more artistic composition and choreography.
Besides offering a unique take for the fireworks, there were also French pop tunes, mixed in with bilingual songs and English pop songs.

Vancouver Police say between 250,000 to 300,000 spectators attended the show at the parks and beaches around English Bay. Like last Saturday’s event, police have called the event uneventful, with only liquor pour outs and beach smoking arising as the issues of the night.
There were 197 liquor pour outs, 26 liquor seizures, 5 weapon seizures, 50 violation tickets issued, 8 bylaw tickets issued, 2 arrests for public intoxication, 4 breach of the peace arrests and 5 other arrests for varying reasons.
On Saturday, August 2, Japan will conclude this year’s Celebration of Light festival, which will be immediately followed by the Vancouver Pride Parade and Festival the following morning on Sunday.
