A botched tweet sent out by Fox News this morning has former NHL enforcer Paul Bissonnette catching some major strays.

Bissonnette, who has turned into a media star post-NHL career, has been very vocal in his support for Canada as they get set to face Team USA in the final of the 4 Nations Face-Off this evening.

In his usual humorous tone, Bissonnette said on the Pardon My Take podcast that it would be a “national emergency” if the Canadians lose to the U.S. tonight. Despite saying it in somewhat of a playful banter, Fox News took it quite literally and shared an unintentionally hilarious post that has quickly blown up on X.

Shortly after the post went up, several fans, and even Spittin’ Chiclets co-host Ryan Whitney, quickly took jabs at Bissonnette about the fact that he was referred to as an “Ex-Team Canada star.”

The tweet from Fox News wound up getting a community note added to it, which made the entire scenario even funnier.

“Bissonnette may have played for Team Canada as a teenager in the Under 18 World Championships, he was far from a star then and [that] could be considered the pinnacle of his career,” the note reads. “Paul ‘Biz Nasty’ never played for Canada again. His fame has come post-career as a media personality.”

Bissonnette, who is never afraid to be the butt of the joke, followed this all up with another funny message stating that he took down an American news outlet similar to how Canada is going to take down the U.S. in tonight’s game.

As funny as this entire scenario is, it’s only adding to the anticipation and excitement going into tonight’s game. These two teams have been trading shots back and forth in the media over the past several days, meaning fans should expect things to get fiery as they did in their first meet-up on Saturday night.
