Apr 23 2020, 8:18 pm

Four people were arrested after VPD executed a high-risk search warrant for firearms offences at a home in South Vancouver on Wednesday.

In a release, police say the warrant was executed by the VPD’s Emergency Response and Major Crime Sections at about 3 pm near East 41 Avenue and St. Georges Street.

In order to protect the safety of officers and citizens, VPD used multiple resources including an “armoured rescue vehicle.”

“We had a very visible presence in the Sunset neighbourhood yesterday evening in relation to this warrant,”  said Sergeant Aaron Roed, of VPD, in a statement. “We want to thank the public for their patience, as police worked on gathering evidence throughout the evening.”

Three of the individuals were arrested and released and one remains in custody for an unrelated federal warrant.

The VPD’s investigation is ongoing and there is no public safety threat related to this incident.
