Former UBC Professor returns library book after 47 years

A former UBC professor, James Foster, has returned an overdue book after 47 years and he didn’t even have to pay the fine.

In an interview with CBC, Foster calculated that the fine would have been close to $14,000.

The book, The Poems of Arthur Hugh Clough, belongs to the library at Queen’s University Belfast, Ireland. He found it while cleaning a storage locker.

Upon finding the book, Foster emailed the librarian at Queen’s University Belfast and let them know what happened.

He’s lucky the Queen’s University Belfast Library doesn’t employ Mr. Bookman.
