Forbes lists the 20 richest people in Canada in 2019

Welcome to the billionaire’s club, Canada.

Forbes has released its annual list of the world’s billionaires, and these folks are the richest of the rich.

According to Forbes, the number of billionaires in the world and their net worth is dropping. This year, there are a total of  2,153 billionaires globally — 55 fewer than a year ago. Of those, a record 944 (46%) are “poorer” than they were last year.

The group’s net worth is estimated at $8.7 trillion, which is down $400 billion from 2018.

The Asia-Pacific region took the biggest hit with 60 fewer people with 10-figure fortunes. China led the way in those losses with 49 fewer billionaires than a year ago. The US and Brazil were the only two regions that have more billionaires than they did in 2018.

For the second year in a row, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos took the top spot with a net worth of $131B. Bill Gates came in second ($96.5B) and Warren Buffett placed third ($82.5B).

Makeup mogul and member of the Kardashian clan, Kylie Jenner, was named the world’s youngest “self-made” billionaire. Forbes says the 21-year-old has an estimated fortune of $1 billion.
