Puppet cabaret raises money for city's first puppetry festival

Once you’ve seen the Fools After Dark puppet cabaret, you’ll never look at felt and googly eyes the same way again.

Friday, April 1 Vancouver’s most talented and innovative puppeteers will come together for an unforgettable show, all to raise money for the inaugural Vancouver International Puppet Festival, set to take place this fall.

2016 will mark the first year of the newly minted festival, and the city’s puppetry community has been waiting a lifetime for it.

“For years, my colleagues and I have heard the same questions again and again: ‘Where can I see puppetry in Vancouver? Is there a centralized place to learn of all things puppet? Why don’t we have a puppetry festival?’” local puppeteer Tara Travis said in a press release. “Well, it’s time we take action and address that!”

Details for the upcoming Puppetry Festival will be released following “Fools After Dark,” but the event is sure to host demonstrations, performances, tips, advice, and experts on puppetry of all disciplines.

Tickets are available now via TheatreWire.
