How to plan the ultimate foodie staycation during Dine Out Vancouver

Feb 12 2021, 10:41 pm

Every single day, if we’re not talking about food and what we’re going to eat next, we’re thinking about it.

This is one of the reasons why we look forward to the annual Dine Out Vancouver festival. Running from now through March 7, this year marks the first time the foodie fest will be spread over 31 delicious days.

Now more than ever, the businesses that bring our communities together need our support. During Dine Out Vancouver, locals can enjoy specially priced dine-in and takeout menus, ranging anywhere from $15 to $54 at hundreds of participating restaurants, all the way from West Vancouver to White Rock.

To make it that bit sweeter, local Vancouverites can make it a staycation in their own community by taking advantage of the exclusive Visa Gift Card offer when they book an overnight stay at participating downtown Vancouver hotels during the festival.

Now in its 19th year, Dine Out Vancouver continues to set the bar high when it comes to partnering with local restaurants that offer something to suit everyone’s tastes and budget.

If the craving for a heavenly bowl of pasta hits, there’s Di Beppe in Gastown; for Mexican fare redefined with a sustainable menu, there’s el Santo in New West; for traditional Afghan cuisine in a beautiful modern setting, there’s Afghan Kitchen in South Surrey; and when you’re set for perfectly cooked and seasoned steak, The Keg in West Vancouver has you covered.

A few restaurants are also offering exclusive takeout only menus such as DD Mau in Yaletown for modern Vietnamese banh mi sandwiches and noodle bowls, and Pacific Yacht Charters for delicious five-star food from Vancouver’s premiere yacht event venue.

The aforementioned eateries only scratch the surface of those participating in Dine Out Vancouver this year, with more than 350 restaurants lined up in total — a record number for the festival.

Dining at an old favourite or new restaurant is a great way to support local and treat yourself to a special meal. In doing so, it’s key to visit participating foodie spots within your health region and only with someone from your immediate household.

Be sure to make a reservation online ahead of time to secure your spot at the restaurant you wish to visit or order one of the takeout options and recreate the dining experience at home.

Since last March, we have all spent more time at home than ever before, looking at the same four walls, which act as home offices and makeshift gyms, around the clock.

Vancouverites, if you desire a change of scenery (if even just for one night), there are plenty of options for a staycation in downtown Vancouver. For the duration of Dine Out Vancouver, locals can get a $50 Visa Prepaid Gift Card for every night they stay at a participating hotel — up to a maximum of five nights.

Escape the everyday, mundane routine of home and pamper yourself with a staycation. Book a blissful overnight break for you and your better half at the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa for Valentine’s Day or a stay at the Fairmont Waterfront for those in your immediate household.

Sink into relaxation and make the most of Dine Out Vancouver by ordering takeout to your hotel room or get dressed up and visit a local spot for brews and bites. Whatever you choose, stay small, stay local, and enjoy a welcome taste of R&R.
