In Focus Vancouver 2015 puts the emphasis on conservation

Dec 20 2017, 2:29 am

On November 26, local photographers, charities, entrepreneurs, and change-makers will gather for a special event that both celebrates British Columbia’s natural beauty and works toward preserving it.

The event, called In Focus Vancouver 2015, is an initiative led by Vancouver-based sustainable business consultants Ethical Profiling, which pairs with various corporations to create environmentally conscious and ethically sourced products. In Focus is another step in their philanthropic journey and provides a new way of giving back that utilizes the company’s sustainable strengths.

The evening, to be held at the Imperial, will present a gallery of Western Canadian-focused imagery shot by local photographers, each of who have paired up with a charity that they are passionate about. 30-time Epson Award-winning photographer Chris Collacott joins forces with the Take a Hike Foundation, which offers alternative education programs that engages at-risk youth through adventure-based learning.

Clare Hodgetts, who will feature Vancouver Island’s shorelines and emerging surf culture in her collection, teams up with the Vancouver chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a global environmental non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of our oceans and beaches.

Owen Perry, whose work focuses on landscape, travel and adventure and has been publicly showcased in spaces including Galleries London, couples with Canadian Pacific coast conservationists Pacific Wild.

Accomplished music photographer Dee Lippingwell will share a selection of images of the rock and roll icons she has photographed over the past four decades, including the Rolling Stones. For In Focus, Lippingwell partners with Directions Youth Services, which offers a variety of support systems aimed at homeless and struggling youth.

Though an effort to connect the community and increase its awareness of the importance of protecting our beautiful backyard, In Focus invites us all join in on important conversations with these social and environmental innovators. 50% of all sales made at the event will be donated to the featured charities.
