$1,500 floating "condo" for rent listed as cure to the Vancouver rat race (PHOTOS)
If the Vancouver rat race has got you down with expensive rent and high cost of living, among other issues, a floating “condo” listed for $1,500 may be the cure to your woes.
A rental listing is listed on Craigslist as the perfect solution to the rat race.
The floating “condo” is actually located in Metro Vancouver, specifically New West, and is a 32-foot power boat that is essentially a bachelor pad, according to the listing.
The powerboat bachelor pad is situated “in a live-aboard marina,” close to shopping and transit.
“It has a large 10’x8′ deck at back which is perfect for three- or even four-season living and entertaining,” reads the listing.
Some pictures are a bit blurry but still seem a decent indicator of what to expect, especially regarding the floating condo or boat’s size.
The floating home features a five-person dinette, which converts to a bed, a four-burner propane stove with a burner plate, a microwave, oven, sink, electric grill, bake oven, and coffee pot.
The listing also advertises that there is a lot of storage in this powerboat home.
“The bedroom is at the front — it’s an amazing 11.5 feet long including loft-like storage in front with another fireplace/heater, a twin bed on one side and a settee on the other — also has a privacy door.”
The person who listed the boat is at least honest about the shortcomings of this rental.
“Bathroom has a toilet and sink as well as a nice view window; there is a shower but frankly the gym and community centre, both two blocks away, have better showers.”
“This boat is the perfect solution to the rat race, insane house prices, and ridiculously high rent — you could move on today with just a suitcase and be very comfortable.”
Would you pack it all up in a suitcase to live here?
