A collision in Richmond involving a motorcycle and a parked car this morning ended with both vehicles destroyed and the motorcyclist rushed to hospital.

The accident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on the 2500 block of Shell Road.

Vancity Buzz Food Contributor Ed Lau, the owner of the car, said he was alerted to the accident by his employer.

“My boss runs into my office yelling at me that my car is on fire,” said Lau. “I rush outside and see the back driver’s side on fire, with a motorbike in the middle of the road on fire as well.”

“[The] motorcyclist is on the ground, clothes burned or tossed off,” he added. “Fire’s already going in the car. [There’s] no way we can put it out with a fire extinguisher, so [we] just wait for emergency vehicles.”

The condition of the motorcyclist is currently unknown.
