The first official trailer for Finding Dory, the sequel to 2003’s animated classic Finding Nemo, has arrived.
The Disney-Pixar project is due June 17, 2016 and fans are already embracing the much-anticipated film led by Ellen DeGeneres, who voices the forgetful blue tang fish.
Creating a sequel to Nemo has been a dream of DeGeneres’ for 10 years and officially in the works since 2013 when she announced the film to her talk show audience. The possibility of a sequel had been a common joke on her show after nearly every successful animated film received a sequel, or four, except Nemo.
“Kids let that be a lesson to you that anything is possible if you’re patient and you beg hard enough on national television,” she said back in April 2013.
Finding Dory‘s plot is still very much a mystery, but IMDB describes the film: “The friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish reunites with her loved ones, and everyone learns a few things about the true meaning of family along the way.”
The original voice-over cast will be reunited with DeGeneres returning as Dory, Alexander Gould as Nemo, Albert Brooks as Marlin, William Dafoe as Gill and Brad Garrett as Bloat. The film’s director and writer Andrew Stanton will also return.
New voices include Modern Family cast members Ed O’Neill and Ty Burrell as well as Dianne Keaton and Eugene Levy.
