To think, Muller and his Vancouver Whitecaps teammates thought three weeks in between games was a lot.
Makes you wonder what they think of their schedule in 2026.
The MLS released its schedule for the 2026 season on Thursday, and it included a bizarre layoff between home games for the Whitecaps.
It was to be expected, but it’s certainly unorthodox and different for this Whitecaps team.
Vancouver will have an astonishing 98 days in between home games during the 2026 season, as BC Place will be used for the FIFA World Cup.
The MLS itself will have a 53-day break in between games, with the last date for games played before the FIFA World Cup taking place on May 24. MLS will resume on July 16 and 17, before the World Cup Finals on July 18 and 19.

Because the Whitecaps are being booted from BC Place for the World Cup, the early part of their schedule is home-heavy. Eight of the Whitecaps’ first nine regular-season games in 2026 will be home matches, the last of which takes place on Saturday, April 25, versus the Colorado Rapids.
After that, Vancouver will play eight straight road games from Saturday, May 2, until Saturday, July 25, before finally returning to BC Place on Saturday, Aug. 1, when they face the LA Galaxy.
Five MLS teams are being temporarily booted from their stadiums for the FIFA World Cup. Here’s how long each of those teams will have in between home matches.
- Seattle Sounders: 62 days
- New England Revolution: 68 days
- Atlanta United: 99 days
- Toronto FC: 99 days
While Vancouver isn’t the only team to have nearly 100 days off in between home games, the situation is really unique to just them, Toronto FC, and Atlanta FC.
For now, this issue is on the back burner for the Whitecaps, who continue their push for their first MLS Cup win on Saturday, when they face LAFC in the first match of the Conference Semifinals at BC Place.
