Exchanging back & forth tweets with @wandfc (Wanderlei Silva) for a few weeks (he’s my favourite MMA fighter). I met him when he came to visit Vancouver in December and he still recognized and remembered me from our Twitter conversations despite having 50k+ followers that constantly message him.

What did you want to be growing up?
I always wanted to grow up and become a crime fighting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. It wasn’t until I actually got older that I came to the sad conclusion that it wasn’t going to happen.
If you could have dinner with 1 person (live or dead) who would it be?
Bruce Lee.
I idolize that man because of how he was able to help break the barriers that were set against minorities back in the day. It’d be a once in a lifetime experience to be able to just spend some time picking his brain and getting to really know the man on a personal level and not just by what we see on screen.
Your claim to fame:
Everybody calling me by my last name (Yee) during elementary & high school. It didn’t bother me much so I just ‘rolled with the punches’ and thought nothing of it. Old high school friends still call me by it whenever I bump into them.
Do you know of a hidden gem in our city?
I’m not sure this place classifies as an actual hidden gem but I’ve always liked Capones in Yaletown. They play live jazz on Friday & Saturday so it definitely gives it that date spot vibe. Go for a nice stroll along False Creek after dinner and you’ve got yourself a nice way to wind down the night.
If you were a superhero, who would you be and why?
I’d be the ‘Prince of Persuasion’ so I could use my awesome persuasive powers to talk myself out of any sort of sticky situations I get myself into.
If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why?
I’d be a tomato so people would always debate about whether I’m a fruit or vegetable.
