Name and Twitter handle: Bret Taylor, @BretInVancouver

Occupation (optional): Graphic artist. http://howyadoingraphics.tumblr.com

A notable moment on Twitter? Back in the spring I posted a picture of a painting I’d just finished. The piece was pretty much ripped right out of my soul – my way of dealing with some previous trauma that’s too complicated to go into here. I wanted to paint the piece and then maybe burn it – exorcise those demons altogether.

And people lost their minds over it. Tons of comments and RTs, offers to buy it, etc. etc. So much love, and my first real hint of the power of Twitter. (Oh, and I sold the painting, too. It’s now hanging in the home of a Twitter buddy.)

Your best Tweet: “It occurs to me that we’ve reached the point where we have two seasons in North America: hockey, and summer.”

What did you want to be growing up? An artist. It took a long time, but it definitely happened. I’m having a show at the Tipper on Oct. 7th: www.thetipperrestaurant.com

If you could have dinner with 1 person (live or dead) who would it be? How ’bout Stephen King? Either him or Warren Ellis (the writer, not the musician).

Your claim to fame: My art or my sarcasm, I guess.

Do you know of a hidden gem in our city? Tempting as it is to give a food-related answer, I’m gonna go with Oscar’s Art Books on Broadway. I’ve bought books there that changed my whole life.

If you were a superhero, who would you be and why? Putting my comic-dork past aside, I think I’d have to go with Thor. There’s a guy who can do it all.

If you were a vegetable, what would you be and why? I guess I’d have to be an onion, ’cause onions make everything better.

Recommend a fellow Twitterer that deserves some recognition? @danudey – sarcastic, hilarious, a true patron of the arts, and an all-around swell guy.

Describe yourself in 3 words: Bigger, louder, faster.
