We recently got to sit down with the lovely Tanya of Taffete Designs, and we couldn’t have been more excited! Now this is a woman that knows how to throw not only an awesome party, but a beautiful one too.
Read below for our Q&A with the leading lady herself.
Taffete Designs provides event styling and décor rentals. We have 3 focuses: weddings, fetes and styling. We provide wedding packages and custom linen sourcing for our brides to bring their dreams into reality. We have a unique inventory of decor items for everyday celebrations and we work with corporate clients to style their promotional shoots and retail locations.
We have also created SHOP by Taffete, which is a curated selection of celebration items to bring the fete to you! Giving back to our community is something that’s important to us – we partner with local organizations like Vancouver Hospice Society and the Covenant House and donate our post-event florals.
My dad is an entrepreneur and as I was growing up, I always knew that I wanted to be exactly like him. After finishing my Masters in Management, I decided that I wanted to be creative while having structure in my job. Taffete is the perfect combination of the two. The business aspect keeps me focused and the décor aspect allows me to have fun while I am at work. I love to transform a space and compare the before and after of the same space. I want my clients to look back and say “hey remember that one event? Yeah it was almost as great as going to Disneyland.”
Making others happy. One of my favorite parts about the job is to see the smile on my client’s face when they walk through the door for the first time. Not only that, but I also love seeing our local non-profit organizations do something with the post-event fresh floral.
Our shop is dedicated to our Fete customers. Who doesn’t want a celebration sent to their doorstep? The shop allows clients to purchase things for smaller social get-togethers, or fun items to gift. You can definitely expect more of unique (and fun) plates, napkins, forks, décor items and social stationery that you can’t get anywhere else – plus, something that’s one-of-a-kind is dropping into the shop very soon! Some of our most popular items include the café lights, our balloons and our handmade thank you cards.
Yes! We have a well-populated inventory of items for rent. Our fete and corporate clients love our LED furniture. This modern furniture light up in 16 colours; they are fun and can be adaptable to any theme!
Our brides and event planners LOVE our great selection of custom linens (we have a stake in a textiles manufacturing plant!). We are able to provide anything and everything you can think of, many of which are exclusive to us. Our gold leaf chargers and crystal candelabra are in huge demand as well, and bring such a chic touch to a tablescape.
We want them to experience everything fete! Our brand focuses on attainable luxury to give our clients all the fun of a fete without any of the pretentiousness.
Taffete is looking to open up a showroom location early next year and we are definitely expanding our inventory with items you won’t find anywhere else! We are also looking forward to a fully booked wedding season next year (fingers crossed). Taffete is in the midst of creating something useful and fun for all of our brides planning for their wedding. We can’t wait to introduce it into the market!
