Fantasy map of Canada makes us wish we all lived in Middle-earth
You’ve never seen Canada like this before.
Etsy shop owner Karol Sowa creates detailed maps of real life locations, but gives them a fantastical makeover. He has posted his version of Canada, and the results are astounding.
The mountains, forests, and stark wilderness north of the Wall border are brought out in Sowa’s artwork, pencilling in cities and omitting provincial borders.
It’s all in the details, and on closer inspection you can begin to notice the smaller things like bridges, hills, and mountain ranges.
The harsh landscape to the north is made clear for any young Canadian thinking of adventuring forth into the great unknown.
Commenters had some fun, with Burghguy writing: “Further proof that Canada is just a silly made-up place. I mean, free healthcare? Whose going to believe that?” and Mikeupvotes writing: “A song of ice and sorries.”
Sowa creates maps of other countries as well, and sells prints through his Etsy shop, Parnasium.
Though, if you’re hoping to see mountains again, or for a depiction of the land of always winter, this map of Canada is your best bet—for this world, at least.
