A decade after the original 2005 Vancouver-filmed movie, Marvel’s awesome foursome has been reimagined with a dark and gritty spin and an entirely new cast of young faces.

20th Century Fox released a teaser trailer of The Fantastic Four today, which provided comic book hero fans with a glimpse of Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic, Jamie Bell as The Thing, Kate Mara as The Invisible Woman and Michael B. Jordan as The Human Torch.

Here is the studio’s description of the film:

FANTASTIC FOUR, a contemporary re-imagining of Marvel’s original and longest-running superhero team, centers on four young outsiders who teleport to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

The trailer shows that director Josh Trank has taken inspiration from Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar and The Dark Knight trilogy, which was a game changer for also influencing other comic book cinematic adaptations in recent years such as Man of Steel and the most recent X-Men films.

Additional sequels of the original film series starring Jessica Alba and Chris Evans were canceled following the Silver Surfer’s negative poor reviews and poor performance in the box office in 2007. Critics of both movies in the original series said the plots were too cheesy and juvenile, often only relying on its action sequences and special effects.

The reboot is scheduled to hit theatres on August 7, 2015, with a sequel to follow in June 2017.
