Why you can't miss Fan Expo Vancouver 2020 (CONTEST)
The countdown is on for Fan Expo Vancouver, one of British Columbia’s largest pop-culture events.
Expect a packed house — the annual event brings together tens of thousands of people ranging from comic book fans, cosplay lovers, and video game fanatics to name a few.
If any more excitement was needed, Fan Expo Vancouver has prepped a list of what to check out at Fan Expo Vancouver 2020.
Shopping

It’s time to find that comic book or video game that you loved as a kid. At Fan Expo Vancouver, you might even meet the person who made it. Not to mention, you’ll likely find some art or fanware that will blow your mind.
The event will boast more than 100 vendors and artists, so come early and get ready for the hunt. Make sure to bring cash though, as ATMs at the event can often run.
Celebrity guests

Whether it’s your first time at Fan Expo or a long-awaited return, there’ll be no shortage of familiar faces.
Expect a hefty lineup of celebrities, voice actors, creators, and popular cosplayers. In Addition to Brendan Fraser, you can also meet Brian Baumgartner, Óscar Nuñez, Bruce Campbell, Christina Ricci, Todd McFarlane, and more.
Over the course of the weekend, visitors will have the chance to meet them at Photo Ops and Autograph Signings, or see them live on-stage during panels (along with the chance to ask them questions).
Artist alley
This special area of the convention is where you’ll find all your favourite pencilers, inkers, and writers. It’s also a must-visit area for anyone interested in meeting the rising stars and the people who work the front lines of the industry.
Visitors will have the chance to find comics, graphic novels, limited edition prints, and original art and sketches. A great place to commission an artist for a custom piece of art.

Come for the con, stay for the cosplay.
Showing off, checking out, and snagging pictures of weekend cosplays, for many, is the best part of the Fan Expo experience. Just be sure to ask permission and be respectful before taking photos. And of course, visitors are more than encouraged to wear costumes of their own.
To see the absolute best that the weekend has to offer, be sure to check out the Cosplay Red Carpet or the costume contest on the main stage, Saturday night.
Photo ops

One of the clear highlights of Fan Expo Vancouver is the awesome photo ops. This year’s event will have no shortage of celebrity guests. If you’re looking to guarantee your chance to have a photo taken with a star, Fan Expo Vancouver will have professional photographers on hand.
Professional photo ops can be purchased in advance and include an 8×10 printed photo, as well as the chance to purchase a digital copy.
Not to mention, you can bring up to three other friends to join you in the photo — say Cheese!
Vancouver community
This year’s event is taking an extra deep dive into the local community, bringing in organizations such as the Vancouver Film School, JCI Institute, Science World, the Vancouver Aquarium, and many other organizations to Fan Expo Vancouver.
From demos, panels, and mobile aquariums (yes, you read that right), there will be plenty of amazing activities to experience.

New to the expo, the Family Zone is a place for all visitors to unleash their inner kid. Visitors can enjoy the Tiny Colourless Cafe, several Dance Parties, a geeky Craft Zone, and they can even play Quidditch with Quidditch Canada.
Podcast Alley
Podcast Alley is a chance for visitors to hear live shows, meet and greet with local podcast heroes, and learn insider tips and tricks to launch your very own podcast.

How-to Panels and Workshops
Make sure to check the website (or the app) to see the weekend schedule and plan your days accordingly.
You’ll get a chance to hear from your favourite stars and creators live on stage, and sometimes, the chance to hear big news before it breaks! Not to mention, it’s also a great chance to ask and receive answers to all your questions about the industry and to talk about the newest projects.
