Family day long weekend events 2013 Vancouver

B.C.’s inaugural Family Day long weekend is February 9 – 11, 2013 (although why it’s not the same weekend as the other provinces is still perplexing). Families across Vancouver can take the time to attend special events and activities across the region. Here are three events taking place in Vancouver on Family Day.

1. Family Day at Robson Square
Celebrate the first Family Day at a celebration for all ages including educational activities, free ice skating, hockey shoot outs, face painting and performances by Said the Whale.

Date: February 11, 2013
Time:  7 a.m. – 11:30 p.m.

2. Family Day at BC Sports Hall of Fame

Check out the new Vancouver 2010 Gallery and Hall of Champions, enjoy a Family Day colouring activitiy, scavenger hunt, the participation zone and get a photo of yourself with Shaun White’s 2010 Olympic snowboard!

Date: February 11, 2013
Time: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: BC Sports Hall of Fame: 777 Pacific Boulevard – Gate A, Vancouver (map)
Cost: Free – $7.50* (*half price admission)

 

3. Family Day at the Vancouver Art Gallery

See a special presentation of The Making Place and enjoy explorative, hands-on workshops featuring collaborative and independent activities for the entire family.

Date: February 11, 2013
Time: noon – 4 p.m.
Location: Vancouver Art Gallery: 750 Hornby Street, Vancouver
Cost:  Free – $17.50

 

Of course there are plenty of other events going on in town. You have the usual club events, concerts and arts shows. The above three are specific to Family Day.
