Face masks for healthy winter skin

With the coming of winter and the weather getting colder and colder, it can really take a toll on the skin. It can be incredibly cold outside and coming and going from the heat of buildings and cars can have a bitter effect on the face as it is constantly exposed. Face masks can help repair the damage winter can do and bring the moisture back to the skin to keep it looking healthy, even in the extreme cold. There are so many out there, so here is a list of a few of the best ones to revive your skin.

LUSH Cosmetic Warrior

This mask consists of all natural ingredients, such as garlic and tea tree oil to help combat blemishes, blackheads and enlarged pores. This mask will leave the skin feeling refreshed and will help reduce redness and breakouts. It can be used more often than most masks and will really clear up the skin. The only downside is the smell, due to the garlic used in it, other than that this mask is amazing for acne-prone skin.

LUSH also has many other great masks, including the Catastrophe Cosmetic mask, which has a more pleasant smell and is better for people with more sensitive skin. Like all LUSH masks, the Cosmetic Warrior must be kept refrigerated.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask

If dry skin is the issue, this mask is the solution. The Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal mask will leave the skin feeling as soft and hydrated as ever. With main ingredients like oatmeal and Shea butter, it will soothe irritated, dry skin, which is perfect for winter. This mask can be used two to three times per week and is also great for helping with eczema. It is very creamy and it does have bits of oatmeal in it, but it will leave your dry skin feeling extremely soft and hydrated.

This mask can be purchased at any Sephora location and is best kept at room temperature.

Glam Glow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment

Glam Glow is an amazing line used in Hollywood by celebrities to achieve that amazing, glowing skin. This mask is a great exfoliate and is gentle enough to use twice a week, or as often as desired. The key ingredient in this mask is green tea leaves, which are visible in the product. The mask gently exfoliates the skin and removes the impurities and does not strip away the natural oils from the face. It tingles slightly as it dries and can feel a bit tight, but it leaves the skin feeling cleansed and super soft. A difference can be seen and felt right away.

The Glam Glow Youthmud Tinglexfoliate Treatment can be purchased and Sephora and also comes in a formula that is made for sensitive skin.

Ole Henriksen Blue/Black Berry Enzyme Mask

This clear gel mask will renew and condition skin and has an amazing lavender scent. It is meant for sensitive skin and really cleanses and leaves the skin feeling as smooth as ever. It will not irritate, but is meant more for oily/sensitive skin and is not ideal for drier skin types. The mask can be used two to three times per week and the soft feeling will last until the next use of the mask.

This mask can be purchased at Sephora as well as other Ole Henriksen products, like the Lemon Strip Flash Peel, which can soften the look of lines, refine pores and resurface the skin to leave a radiant complexion.

MAC Mineralize Volcanic Ash Exfoliator

The Volcanic Ash Exfoliator is not necessarily a mask, however it can be used as one. This product will really exfoliate and cleanse the skin leaving it feeling super soft and will add a glow. To use it as a mask, just apply the product on the face and leave it on for a few minutes, then rinse off with warm water while rubbing in circular motions. The product will emulsify as it is being rinsed off, which will gently exfoliate the skin. It is gentle enough to use every couple of days and is not only great for all skin types, but can be used all over the body as well to exfoliate and leave smooth, soft results.

Masks are great all year round, but can really help battle winter skin as this is the time of year when the weather and climate can be the harshest on the skin. Have your skin looking its best by trying out any of these masks and kiss the winter skin blues goodbye.
