We’ve known that EXP Restaurant + Bar was facing potential closure due to rising costs for a while, but now the downtown Vancouver establishment has confirmed it will indeed be shuttering at the end of June.

This spot, which opened in 2012, had been transparent with the public about how it was not feasible to continue operating much longer.
EXP was an establishment that took on the unique concept of bringing a video game theme to a restaurant and bar, and they plan to go out doing what they do best, partying nerd style.
In a Facebook event created June 19 titled ‘Game Over – EXP is Closing’, the bar’s owners shared a heartfelt message to loyal customers and urged them to come and enjoy the eatery – with drink and food discounts – before it closes in the early hours of July 1 at its 309 West Pender Street space.
At 4 pm today our landlord let us know that we will need to close the doors at the end of the month. We want say, from the bottom of our 8-bit heart meters, thank you to everyone who has supported us along this journey.
We also would like to invite everyone out for a huge blow out of a party! For the rest of the month come into EXP and enjoy the first, best, and most community focused nerd bar in Canada!
Food and drinks will all be very discounted and your purchases in these last few weeks will be helping us pay the AMAZING staff who have been the foundation of this wonderful community.
