An exclusive look at the inaugural Fall into the Arts event

The inaugural Fall into the Arts event, on September 17, was hosted by Ballet BC Up, Vancouver Opera Young Patrons Circle and the Young Associates of the Vancouver Art Gallery.

This partnership event celebrated the new seasons of each of these fabulous organizations by inviting guests to have a sneak peek at what was in store, all while providing the opportunity to learn about the benefits of joining the young patrons’ arts groups.

It also was the perfect networking atmosphere for young patrons of the arts to socialize and interact over cocktails, appetizers and great entertainment reflecting the upcoming seasons of each participating organization.

Fall into the Arts was hosted on the seventh floor of the Scotiabank Dance Centre, partially inside of a dance studio with open doors out to a gorgeous rooftop patio with a breathtaking view of downtown Vancouver. There were guests from each organization including ballet dancers, artists and opera singers which provided an opportunity for potential donors to mingle with the recipients of their support.

The feature performance was a collaboration between Ballet BC dancer Brandon Alley and Vancouver Art Gallery committee member, Erikka Griffiths-Keam. It was a gorgeous mixing of the two art forms in the intimate environment of the event space. Alley started off the presentation, walking out from the crowd sporting his suit and soon after Griffiths-Keam joined him, supporting Alley with her gorgeous voice The performance was moving and intimate, Alley dancing hypnotically through the crowd while Griffiths-Keam’s singing resonated through the space. It was a unique look into the work that these fabulous companies do which reflects one of the perks of joining one of the organizations.

Vancouver Opera Young Patrons Circle

The performance gave potential donors a taste of what it is like to join one of the organizations as many of the memberships include an exclusive look behind the scenes of the company’s work. An expansive list of benefits come with each membership as a reward for supporting local art companies.

Fall into the Arts encouraged philanthropy and the cultivation of the Vancouver cultural ecology by inviting people to celebrate their upcoming seasons. By reaching out to young people, they hope to inspire new young patrons to support local arts organizations by becoming members. Vancouver Opera’s Young Patron’s Circle, Ballet BC Up and the Young Associates of the Vancouver Art Gallery hope to change how young people consume culture in Vancouver through events like Fall into the Arts.
