6 former Vancouver Canucks who have more points than anyone on current roster

It takes effort to be as bad as these Vancouver Canucks are.

Even though they ended a historic losing skid, they’re still comfortably the worst team in the NHL. It’s a spot in the standings they really haven’t occupied at any point during the 21st century.

In order to be this bad, you have to let some good players leave your organization. That’s exactly what the Canucks have done.

Elias Pettersson and Filip Hronek are currently tied for the team lead with 29 points this season. That ties them for 141st among all NHLers, alongside players like Patrick Kane, Mats Zuccarello, Ryan Leonard, and Eeli Tolvanen.

For some extra salt in the wound, here are six former Canucks who have more points than anyone on the roster this season.

1. Quinn Hughes (Minnesota Wild)

2025-26 stats: 46 GP, 4 G, 43 A, 47 PTS

While the Canucks plummet down the standings, Quinn Hughes continues to amaze fans of his new team.

The 26-year-old defenceman has 24 points in 22 games alone since joining the Minnesota Wild. That total itself would be tied for third among current Canucks players.

He’s also recorded four games with at least three assists. Only Paul Coffey had as many three-assist games with a new team in a shorter time span.

Hughes is also one more three-assist game away from tying the Wild franchise record, after barely a month in Minnesota.

2. Elias Lindholm (Boston Bruins)

2025-26 stats: 41 GP, 9 G, 26 A, 35 PTS

After going through a fire sale before last season’s trade deadline, the Boston Bruins have continued to surprise in 2025-26 by hanging tight in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

They currently have a three-point lead over the Toronto Maple Leafs for the final Wild Card spot in the East, and they’ve done it with Elias Lindholm as their quasi number-one centre.

Lindholm and Pavel Zacha have held down the fort at the top of Boston’s centre depth chart. The short-tenured Canuck has benefitted from spending most of his even-strength minutes alongside David Pastrnak and Morgan Geekie.

3. Bo Horvat (New York Islanders)

2025-26 stats: 36 GP, 21 G, 12 A, 33 PTS

Despite missing 14 games for the New York Islanders this season, Bo Horvat still has more goals or points than anyone on the Canucks roster.

He’s continued to be an offensive force and a trusted two-way player for an Islanders team that, much like the Bruins, has played better than most expected this season.

4. Tyler Toffoli (San Jose Sharks)

2025-26 stats: 49 GP, 14 G, 19 A, 33 PTS

It’s been over five years since the Canucks let Tyler Toffoli walk in free agency. Despite playing for five teams during that span, Vancouver let a player walk for free who has registered 308 points in five seasons since leaving the franchise.

That’s just 46 points less than Elias Pettersson over the same time span.

Not only that, but Toffoli has played in 39 playoff games for three different teams, while the Canucks have participated in just 13 postseason contests since they let the Scarborough, Ontario native leave for nothing.

5. J.T. Miller (New York Rangers)

2025-26 stats: 42 GP, 13 G, 19 A, 32 PTS

Perhaps the New York Rangers’ struggles under captain J.T. Miller have provided a tonic for Canucks fans this season.

And although the Rangers haven’t been good, Miller has started to pick things up offensively.

The Rangers captain has eight points in his last four games, allowing him to join the list of players with more points this season than anyone on the Canucks.

6. Oliver Ekman-Larsson (Toronto Maple Leafs)

2025-26 stats: 50 GP, 8 G, 23 A, 31 PTS

And finally, we have the player who’s still being paid over $4.7 million by the Canucks this season.

The buyout of Oliver Ekman-Larsson made sense at the time, as it allowed the Canucks to add some much-needed depth to insulate their core players.

Unfortunately, that core has been dismantled, and the Canucks now have to pay Ekman-Larsson to play elsewhere until 2031.
