Vancouver-based Picatic is now under Eventbrite’s umbrella of companies.

In a release, the San Francisco-based global ticketing and event organizing platform announced today it had acquired Picatic for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 2008, Picatic is a crowdfunding platform for events, allowing promoters to create stable funding for an event prior to booking. It also doubled as an online tool that assisted with event planners with their organizing duties.

“Events are deeply rooted in our company’s DNA and we share the same passion for live experiences as the team at Eventbrite,” said Jayesh Parmar, CEO and co-founder of Picatic, in a statement.

“Joining forces brings tremendous value to our loyal customers, who will now benefit from Eventbrite’s powerful platform, robust feature set, and access to an extensive roster of API and distribution partners. We’re excited to share our talented development community and have a broader impact in the Canadian market and beyond.”

As part of the move, Eventbrite says it will expand its Vancouver team and renew its “long-standing commitment to Canada.”

“Vancouver is emerging as a lively tech hub, full of world-class talent and innovative companies, and we feel a strong connection to it as a technology and cultural center,” said Julia Hartz, CEO and co-founder of Eventbrite.
